The price
MileIQ is $139.99 a year or $13.99 a month on the App Store. MileLock Pro is $49.99 a year or $5.99 a month, so a year costs $90 less. The first 1,000 yearly members pay $39.99 and keep that price for as long as they stay subscribed.
Free plans: MileIQ gives you 40 automatic drives a month. MileLock gives you 30 automatic drives a month, unlimited drives entered by hand and a CSV export.
What's the same
Both record your drives on their own from your iPhone's GPS, let you mark each one business or personal, and turn your business drives into a report for your taxes or your employer.
Where MileIQ is stronger
- Android and a web dashboard as well as iPhone.
- A long track record and the most ratings on the App Store.
- A bigger free plan: 40 drives a month.
Where MileLock is different
- Every drive at the right IRS rate. Each drive is valued at the rate for its date, so 2026's change from 72.5¢ to 76¢ on July 1 is handled for you.
- A business reason in one tap. Right after you swipe a drive business, an Add reason button lets you note what it was for: the part of a mileage log that's easiest to forget.
- A log laid out for your tax return. The PDF shows your business, commuting and other miles the way Schedule C, Part IV asks for them, with your odometer readings.
- Your drives stay on your iPhone. There's no account to make, and we never sell your data or show ads.
- A price that stays put. Founding members keep $39.99 a year for as long as they stay subscribed.
Switching from MileIQ
Download your MileIQ reports for past years and keep them with your tax records; the IRS can ask for them for three years after you file. MileLock starts your log from the day you install it, so switching at the start of a month or a quarter keeps your records tidy. See what the IRS wants in a mileage log.
