What they all do
Each of these apps notices when you drive and records the trip from your phone's GPS, without you pressing start. You mark each drive business or personal, and the app turns your business drives into a report for your taxes or your employer. All of them have a free plan with a monthly limit, then a subscription.
What a year costs
On the App Store, a year of unlimited tracking costs $89.99 to $150 with the other three. MileLock Pro is $49.99 a year, or $39.99 for the first 1,000 members, who keep that price for as long as they stay subscribed. At 76¢ a mile, a year of MileLock Pro costs the same as the deduction on 66 business miles.
Where MileLock is different
- Every drive at the right IRS rate. Each drive is valued at the rate for its date, so 2026's change from 72.5¢ to 76¢ on July 1 is handled for you.
- A business reason in one tap. Right after you swipe a drive business, an Add reason button lets you note what it was for: the part of a mileage log that's easiest to forget.
- A log laid out for your tax return. The PDF shows your business, commuting and other miles the way Schedule C, Part IV asks for them, with your odometer readings.
- Your drives stay on your iPhone. There's no account to make, and we never sell your data or show ads.
- A price that stays put. Founding members keep $39.99 a year for as long as they stay subscribed.
When another app fits better
- You use Android, or want to sort drives on a computer. MileLock is iPhone only for now; the others also run on Android and the web.
- You run a team. MileIQ, Everlance and Driversnote all sell plans for companies.
- You drive a lot but only now and then for work. MileIQ's free plan covers 40 drives a month, more than any of the others.
