These terms are an agreement between you and AU Ventures LLC (“we”, “us”) for the MileLock app and milelock.app. They add to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies to the app. By using MileLock you agree to both.
Who can use MileLock
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, and able to agree to these terms.
Drive safely
Don’t use the app while you are driving. MileLock records drives without you touching it. Sort them once you’ve parked. Always follow traffic laws.
What MileLock does, and its limits
MileLock uses your iPhone’s location and motion sensors to record drives. Phones aren’t perfect: GPS can drift, and iOS can delay or stop background apps. That means a drive can be missed, cut short or measured a little long or short. Check your drives regularly and fix or add any that are wrong. You are responsible for the accuracy of the log you hand in.
Not tax advice
MileLock helps you keep records. It doesn’t give tax, legal or financial advice. Deduction amounts, savings estimates and tax set-aside figures, on the website or in the app, are estimates based on general assumptions. Your actual result depends on your situation. Talk to a tax professional about your return. You are responsible for what you file.
Plans and payment
- The Free plan includes 30 automatic drives a month. Its limits may change, and we’ll tell you in the app first.
- MileLock Pro is a subscription sold through the App Store and billed by Apple to your Apple Account. It renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- If you start a free trial, it becomes a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone’s Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
- If we change the price, Apple tells you before your next renewal, and you can cancel before it applies.
- Founding price. If you are one of the first 1,000 people to take the yearly Pro plan at the founding price, it stays at that price for as long as your yearly subscription keeps renewing without a gap. If it lapses or you cancel, the founding price ends.
Your data
Your drives and the details you add are yours. You let us store and process them only to run MileLock for you, as the Privacy Policy describes. You can export them as CSV on any plan.
Fair use
Please don’t:
- break the law with MileLock, or use it to track another person without their consent;
- copy, resell, reverse engineer or interfere with the app or our services;
- try to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things.
Changes and ending
We may update MileLock and these terms. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app or on this page before it applies. You can stop using MileLock at any time by deleting the app and cancelling any subscription.
Disclaimers
MileLock is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including that it will be error-free, never miss a drive, or meet any particular tax requirement.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including lost deductions, tax penalties or lost profits. Our total liability for any claim about MileLock is limited to what you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if that is more.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it there.
