The short version
- Your drives are stored on your iPhone.
- We use your location only to record drives. Never for ads, and we never sell it.
- There are no ad or tracking tools in the app, and the website uses no cookies.
- An account is optional. If you sign in with Apple, we keep your account ID and email so we can support you and, soon, back up your drives.
- You can delete everything. Email support@milelock.app and we will.
This policy covers the MileLock iPhone app and this website, milelock.app. They are run by AU Ventures LLC, a company based in Illinois, USA (“we”, “us”).
What the app collects
Location
With your permission, MileLock uses your iPhone’s precise location, including when the app is closed, to notice when you start driving and to record each drive: when it started and ended, the route, and the distance. When you are not driving, it stops using GPS and only asks iOS to wake it when you move away from where you parked.
To show place names such as “Oak St” instead of coordinates, the start and end points of a drive are sent to Apple’s geocoding service, and maps in the app come from Apple Maps. Apple handles those requests under its own privacy policy.
Motion
MileLock reads your iPhone’s motion activity (driving, walking, still) to tell a drive from a walk and save battery. This is read on your iPhone and is not sent to us.
What you add
Whether each drive is business or personal, odometer readings you log, and drives you enter by hand.
A diagnostic log
The app keeps a log on your iPhone of when tracking woke up, what it decided and your battery level, so a missed drive can be traced. It stays on your iPhone unless you choose to send it to us.
Your account, if you sign in
Signing in is optional, and only with Apple. If you do, we receive a user ID from Apple, your email address (or a private relay address if you choose “Hide My Email”), and your name if you share it. These are stored by Supabase, the service that runs our accounts and database.
Notifications
Reminders, such as drives waiting to be sorted, are scheduled on your iPhone. We don’t receive a device token.
Where it is kept
Today your drives, routes and diagnostic log are stored only on your iPhone, in the app’s own storage. They are included in your iPhone’s backups if you use iCloud or computer backups, and they are removed if you delete the app.
Your account details, if you sign in, are kept by Supabase in the United States.
Coming soon, and what will change
- Backup. When backup arrives, your drives will also be copied to your account so they follow you to a new iPhone. Only your account will be able to read them.
- Subscriptions. MileLock Pro will be sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment, and we will use RevenueCat to confirm your plan. RevenueCat receives your purchase records and an app user ID, never your card details or your drives.
We will update this policy, and the date at the top, before either goes live.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
- We don’t show ads, and the app contains no advertising or cross-app tracking tools.
- We never ask for passwords to Uber, DoorDash or any other app you drive for.
- We don’t read your contacts, photos or messages.
The website
milelock.app is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and to keep the site running. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits. It uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you. If you email us, we keep the email to answer you.
Who we share with
Only the services that run MileLock for us, and only what each one needs:
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, place names, maps, and App Store purchases.
- Supabase: accounts and, later, backup.
- Vercel: hosting this website.
- RevenueCat: subscription status, once subscriptions launch.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to a buyer if AU Ventures LLC is ever sold, in which case this policy keeps applying to your data.
When you export a CSV or PDF log and share it, it goes wherever you send it. That copy is yours to manage.
How long we keep it
- Drives on your iPhone: until you delete them or the app.
- Your account: until you ask us to delete it.
- Website server logs: for a short time, as Vercel keeps them.
Your choices and rights
- Turn location or motion access off at any time in your iPhone’s Settings. MileLock then stops recording drives.
- Delete any drive in the app, or delete the app to remove everything stored on your iPhone.
- To delete your account, email support@milelock.app from the address on your account. We delete it within 30 days. Deleting your account from inside the app is coming in an update.
- You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing the same address.
Depending on where you live, including California, you may have further rights over your personal information. We honor those requests, and we won’t treat you differently for making one.
Security
Data is encrypted on its way to our services, and your account is protected by Sign in with Apple. Account data can be read only by your own account. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold to the minimum.
Children
MileLock is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. For important changes, we’ll also tell you in the app before they apply.
